While the top echelon of Division III continued chugging along, the second tier suffered another shuffle as Cabrini, Gettysburg, Amherst and RPI — then-ranked No. 8-11, respectively — lost this week.
Salisbury continued its hold on the No. 1 spot in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division III men's Top 20 with a dominating 14-1 victory over its eastern-shore Maryland rival Washington College. Ithaca, Tufts, RIT, St. Lawrence, Stevenson and Dickenson followed suit, as the top seven put together a combined 10-0 record this week.
York doubled up Gettysburg to rebound from its first loss and bounced back into the Top 10, while Bates vaulted eight spots to No. 9 with a Sunday win over Amherst in NESCAC action.
Frostburg State, which handed Cabrini its second straight loss, moved into the rankings at No. 19, while Lynchburg dropped out.

Bates (+8)
A 5-0 first quarter run gave the Bobcats a lead they’d never relinquish in a huge NESCAC victory over then-No. 10 Amherst on Sunday afternoon. Kyle Weber scored nine (!) goals in the 23-17 win, which was the second straight over a ranked team and shot Bates up the chart into the Top 10.
York (+4)
A mid-week trouncing of Gettysburg and a Saturday victory over Haverford bumped the Spartans back into the top half, improving their mark to 6-1 on the young season. Brendan McGrath and Thomas Pfeiffer powered the offensive effort against the Bullets with a combined seven goals and four assists.

While both of the Engineers’ losses came against top quality competition — they fell against Ithaca and RIT by identical 14-9 scores — a 1-2 record with the lone win coming against an unranked Keene State team — isn’t a stellar resume.
Cabrini (-3)
A second straight loss knocked the Cavaliers out of the top half of the table this week, as they never got their rhythm in an 11-8 loss to visiting Frostburg State on Saturday. Can they stop the skid with another ranked team — Ursinus — heading their way this week?

A 7-2 run spanning much of the 2nd and 3rd quarters powered an upset win over then-No. 8 Cabrini this week, improving the Bobcats to 4-2 on the season and earning them their first nod in the rankings. With both of Frostburg's losses coming by close margins to ranked teams (Ursinus and Washington College), the Top 10 win made the case for them.

Lynchburg
The Hornets won their lone game this week handily — they downed Bridgewater by a 21-4 score. But their up-and-down start to the season cost them when it came time to find a place for Frostburg to land in the rankings. Coach Koudelka’s squad will have ample opportunity to make its case for a return this week, as they travel to Stevenson and take on the Mustangs and Amherst coming up.
