Sam Apuzzo set a Boston College record with nine goals to lead the sixth-ranked Eagles to a 20-14 victory Tuesday over 10th-ranked Navy in a rematch of surprise NCAA women’s lacrosse semifinalists a year ago.

The Midshipmen led 7-4 before BC exploded for seven straight goals spanning 8 minutes, 36 seconds midway through the first half. The Eagles led 12-8 at halftime.

Navy used a three-goal run to close within 14-13 with 10:58 remaining, but BC owned the final 10 minutes, scoring six of the games final seven goals for the final margin.

Apuzzo shot 9-for-11, adding an assist and four draw controls to her record setting day. She leads Division I with 30 goals in six games, putting her on pace to have an even more prolific season than she had in 2017, when she led the country with 80 goals in 24 games.

Dempsey Arsenault added three goals, six assists and six draw controls, as the Eagles improved to 6-0.

The Midshipmen, coming off a comeback win against Michigan on Sunday, fell to 3-1 despite five goals from Jenna Collins.

Boston College and Navy met in the NCAA semifinals last spring after each advanced to championship weekend for the first time in school history. The Eagles prevailed 16-15, then lost to Maryland 16-13 in the championship game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
