Andie Aldave is heading to North Carolina.

The star midfielder who spent the past four seasons at Notre Dame entered the transfer portal following the 2021 season, one in which Notre Dame went 11-7 and 5-5 in the loaded ACC. Aldave hyperextended her knee in Notre Dame’s first game and played through the injury this spring. Her offensive numbers dipped a bit as a result (18 goals, nine assists), but she still contributed 82 draw controls — giving her 367 in her Notre Dame career.

This is the second impact midfield transfer for the Tar Heels, who also added former Penn State midfielder Olivia Dirks this summer. This is similar to what UNC did last offseason when it added Kerrigan Miller and Katie Bourque as transfers to shore up that area of the field. Both Miller and Bourque graduated, making room for Aldave (a graduate student) and Dirks (a junior).
