Kelly Amonte Hiller isn’t hiding from the past.

Acknowledging that the previous U.S. under-19 women’s national team was stunned by Canada in the 2015 world championship game in Scotland, her message to the current team was to take nothing for granted.

“The differential from the U.S. and the other teams they played was 70 goals. But did they win? No,” Amonte Hiller said as she addressed her players at training camp at Niagara University. “The crucial point for this team is being humble and really hungry every time you step out onto the field, whether it’s practice or the game. ... We have to make the measuring stick us.”

Amonte Hiller’s remarks set the tone for the first episode of “The Vlog,” which will follow Team USA throughout its journey in the World Lacrosse U19 Women’s World Championship.

The U.S. opens pool play Friday against Australia (5 p.m. EDT, Lax Sports Network) at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario.

Also in this episode, the team takes on some serious soakage on a group jet boat tour near Niagara Falls, then takes on a group of Buffalo-area all-stars in a final exhibition. Lastly, they arrive in Peterborough to deck out their dorm and participate in opening ceremonies.
