TD Ierlan had himself a week, winning 52 of 62 faceoffs, picking up 38 ground balls and scoring twice in two Albany victories over Harvard and Stony Brook. Ierlan earned Epoch/US Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.
In Wednesday's 15-13 win over Havard, Ierlan set career-highs with 26 faceoff wins (26-for-32) and 18 ground balls. Those milestones lasted for three days until Ierlan's next game against Stony Brook Saturday, Ierlan went 26-for-30 from the faceoff X and picked up 20 groundballs to set new career-highs in faceoff percentage (86.7 percent) and ground balls, and it came in another Great Danes victory.
“I think we had a great gameplan coming in, and our wings did a great job of getting pressure off me,” Ierlan said after the Stony Brook win. “Overall it was a good day.”
Ierlan, a freshman, was a two-time US Lacrosse All-American at Victor (N.Y.) High School. He led Victor to state titles his final two years and was selected by US Lacrosse Magazine as the top high school player in the Northeast Region his final two seasons.
