The America East continues to be one of the most intriguing conferences to watch this spring, and it got a little more interesting Sunday.

Corey Yunker had four goals with two assists and Jakob Patterson had two goals and four assists as Albany dominated the fourth quarter in a 14-9 win over UMBC in Albany. Graydon Hogg contributed a hat trick with one assist.

UMBC (5-2, 4-2 AE) led 8-5 with nine minutes left in the third quarter when Trevor Patschorke converted on this off-balance laser as he was falling to the turf.

That would be UMBC’s last highlight of what — at the time — was shaping up to be an important America East win.

Patterson then scored to break UMBC’s 3-0 run, and Ron John fed Yunker with 6:06 left in the third quarter to make the score 8-7 entering the fourth quarter.

Yunker’s man-up goal off a feed from Hogg evened the score at 8, and then John gave the Great Danes the lead for good just 26 seconds later on a low-to-high rip.

After another Yunker goal, UMBC attempted to break the Albany run. Ryan Frawley connected on an assist from Brett McIntyre to make the score 10-9, but Albany didn’t flinch.

The Great Danes immediately responded, scoring seven seconds later to build their lead back to two goals. Albany (6-3, 4-2) finished the contest on a 4-0 run to stay relevant in an America East race that could come down to the wire.
