The marquee game of the early season ended with No. 2 Adelphi walking away with an 11-9 win at No. 3 Florida Southern on Sunday, causing a slight shuffle at the top of the Nike/US Lacrosse Division II Women's Top 20.  The home loss dropped Florida Southern three spots to No. 6 this week, with West Chester, Lindenwood and LIU Post each moving up one spot.

Adelphi never trailed in its win over FSC, scoring the first three goals of the game and building a 7-4 halftime lead. The Panthers maintained that advantage through the second half to finish their season-opening swing through Florida with a 2-0 record. Adelphi begins its home schedule by hosting No. 10 East Stroudsburg on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Limestone continued its early season yo-yo ride, dropping four spots this week after jumping four spots last week. The Saints are off to a good start, at 3-1, but fell after a nine-goal home loss to Tampa, which moves into the Top 20 this week. Tampa visits No. 9 Regis Saturday.

The last four members of the Top 20 that have yet to play, including No. 1 Le Moyne, all get started this week. The top-ranked Dolphins host No. 8 UIndy on Saturday.

HOT

Regis (+2)

Coming off back-to-back 17-win seasons, the Rangers are off to a solid start with a pair of non-conference victories. The schedule gets a bit tougher in the next two weeks with a pair of ranked foes coming to Denver. Regis hosts No. 19 Tampa Saturday, followed by a game against No. 15 GVSU on March 8.

Mercy (+2)

National player of the year candidate Hunter Isnardi has helped to fuel a 2-0 start for the Mavericks by scoring 11 goals in the two games, both on the road. Mercy opened with a 13-12 road win at No. 20 Merrimack and followed with a 10-goal win at St. Anselm. Isnardi set a new NCAA record with 214 draw controls in 2018 and has 18 DCs through the first two games.

NOT

Limestone (-4)

The Saints, ranked 11th in the preseason, had climbed to seventh last week but fall back again after a 20-11 loss to Tampa, unranked at the time. Limestone allowed 14 second half goals in that loss, including eight straight at one point. The Saints are in the midst of a six-game homestand.

Florida Tech (-5)

FIT continues its fall after a 15-9 loss to No. 2 Adelphi at home. The Panthers, 1-2 overall, have slipped nine spots over the past two weeks. The schedule does get a bit easier starting this week, with its next five games all coming against unranked opponents. Four of those games are at home.

NEW

Tampa

Six goals by Carly Vaccaro paced the Spartans to a 14-6 win at North Greenville and pushed their record to 3-1 overall. A two-game trip to Colorado lies ahead this week, including a match-up with No. 9 Regis.

OUT

Lake Erie (was No. 19)

Lake Erie carried a 16-game winning streak into the 2019 opener, but had that run end with a 14-4 home loss to Grand Valley State. The Storm will try to start a new streak Saturday, hosting Charleston.
