With less than a week until Selection Sunday, there wasn't much activity in terms of upsets. No. 1 Merrimack held its post, while No. 2 Limestone followed suit, winning the Conference Carolinas tournament.

The big winner of this week was Adelphi, which beat NYIT in a nonconference game early in the week. The Panthers are playing some good lacrosse and enter the NE-10 tournament this weekend as the top seed.

Most of the NCAA spots seem pretty solid at this point, but some after still up for debate. Adelphi, Merrimack and Le Moyne seem safe in the North, while Limestone and Mercyhurst might be the only sure bets in the South.

HOT

Adelphi (+2)

Adelphi might be the best team in the country. It’s hard to tell this season, but for now, another win over a top-10 team in NYIT moves the Panthers above Merychurst and into the top three. This team definitely has a shot at a national title.

Tampa (+3)

Tampa had a really rough start to the season, which put the Spartans behind from the beginning. However, it won nine of its last 10 games, including the Sunshine State Conference title game on Sunday, to give it a shot at an NCAA berth.

NOT

Lenoir-Rhyne (-4)

Lenoir-Rhyne has coasted through much of the season without a big blemish on its resume, but it fell to Queens (N.C.) in the SAC semifinals over the weekend. That’s a really tough loss just days before the tournament field is announced.

Mount Olive

The only reason Mount Olive, and Mercy for that matter, didn’t fall in the rankings is because almost every team sitting behind it also fell in conference tournaments. The Trojans skidded to the finish line with losses in two of its last three games.

NEW

Queens (N.C.)

Queens had been one of the teams sitting on the fringe of the top 20 for most of the season, but the win over Lenoir-Rhyne pushed it into the rankings this week. Queens lost to Wingate in the SAC championship game, but got wins over Lenoir-Rhyne and Mount Olive in the final two weeks.

Chestnut Hill

In a battle of borderline top-20 teams, Chestnut Hill beat Molloy to close its regular season. The Griffins will get Mercy in the ECC tournament this week.

OUT

Lake Erie

Lake Erie fell to Mercyhurst in a battle of the Great Midwest’s top two teams, meaning it has a 7-7 record in May. It’s tough to put a team with a .500 record in the rankings.

Tusculum

It’s been a great season for Tusculum, but it fell to Wingate in the SAC semifinals. It’s not an indictment on this team, but at No. 20, it was going to be hard to hold onto its spot in the rankings.
