NEW YORK — Head men's lacrosse coaches from 36 colleges and universities in the New York Metropolitan area have joined together to form a new lacrosse organization to be known as the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association with its primary purpose to promote student-athletes both in the classroom and on the lacrosse field.

The new organization will mirror many of the programs and policies of the New England Lacrosse Association, which has promoted the game of lacrosse throughout the New England region for many years.

Jason Miller, head coach of Division I St. John’s, and Tom Gill, head coach of the United States Merchant Marine Academy Mariners (USMMA), have brought together the following 11 Division I schools, nine Division II schools and 16 Division III schools in the Metropolitan region to help grow the game.
