The wealth of girls’ lacrosse talent is spread out across regions like never before. Take a look at 25 of the top high school girls’ lacrosse players to watch in 2020, broken down in fives by region and organized alphabetically by last name.

MID-ATLANTIC

Kayla Abernathy, McDonogh (Md.), Midfield, Sr. — A Penn State commit who totaled 24 goals, 95 draw controls and 26 ground balls as a junior.

Reilly Casey, Bishop Ireton (Va.), Attack, Sr. — She’s helped Bishop Ireton continue its winning tradition, as the program won its fourth straight WCAC title last May. She’s committed to North Carolina.

Maggi Hall, Bel Air (Md.), Attack, Sr. —  The Florida commit is ranked No. 7 overall in the 2020 class, according to IL Women.

Keelin Schlageter, Oak Knoll (N.J.), Midfield, Sr. — The Notre Dame commit posted 52 goals, 17 assists and 88 draw controls as a junior.

Kathryn Toohey, Garnett Valley (Pa.), Midfield, Sr. — The Penn State commit is ranked No. 18 in the class of 2020 by IL Women.

MIDWEST

Payton Bloedow, Prior Lake (Minn.), Midfield, Jr. — In 15 games last spring, she totaled 51 goals and 15 assists.

Jenna Collignon, Hinsdale Central (Ill.), Midfield, Sr. — Collignon, a Yale commit, helped Hinsdale Central (Ill.) finish as state runners-up last year.

Ellena Schildmeyer, Upper Arlington (Ohio), Midfield, Sr. — Committed to Virginia, Schildmeyer has won three straight state championships and was a US Lacrosse All-American last year.

Claudia Shevitz, New Trier (Ill.), Midfield, Sr. — A USC commit, she impacts the game in all three phases. Not only is her offense strong, but she impacts the defense and draw.

Sydney Zimmerman, Rockford (Mich.), Midfield, Sr. — The Colorado commit flourishes despite a rigorous Rockford (Mich.) schedule.

NORTHEAST

Ashley Humphrey, Darien (Conn.), Attack, Sr. — The No. 4 recruit in the 2020 class according to IL Women is committed to Stanford.

Sarah Jaques, Darien (Conn.), Attack/Midfield, Sr. — The first team All-State talent is committed to Stanford.

Jenny Markey, Mount Sinai (N.Y.), Midfield, Sr. — A speedy do-it-all midfielder headed to Syracuse.

Isabelle Smith, Westhampton Beach (N.Y.), Midfield, Sr. — One of the nation’s top midfield recruits, the speedster headed to Boston College is a threat in all facets.

Isabelle Vitale, Cold Spring Harbor (N.Y.), Attack, Sr. — The USC commit was a pivotal piece to last season New York Class C championship team.

SOUTH

Emily Baird, Highland Park (Texas), Midfield, Sr. — A scrappy midfielder who will take her game to Bucknell.

Taylor McClain, Pine Crest (Fla.), Attack, Jr. — She took a major jump last season, finishing with 96 points (52 goals) and shot 74.3 percent.

Peyton Murphy, Westlake (Texas), Attack, Sr. — Committed to Army, she’s part of a Westlake team primed to compete for a state title in Texas.

Ashley Thurston, Lake Highland (Fla.), Midfield, Jr. — She won 116 draws in 2019, a year in which Lake Highland captured a Florida state title.

Caitlyn Wurzburger, American Heritage-Delray (Fla.), Attack, Sr. — The North Carolina commit and U.S. U19 star is the nation’s top recruit and has topped 100 goals AND 100 assists in each of her first three high school seasons.

WEST

Campbell Case, St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.), Attack, Sr. — The Johns Hopkins commit has scored at least 31 goals in each of her three seasons on varsity.

Tatum Geist, San Ramon Valley (Calif.), Midfield, Sr. — Committed to Georgetown, she was the Brine/US Lacrosse West Region Player of the Year in 2019.

Maya Rutherford, Colorado Academy (Colo.), Defense, Jr. — The scrappy defender can lock down the opponent’s top option.

Shelby Tilton, Westlake (Calif.), Midfield, Sr. — She filled the stat sheet last year, posting 102 goals, 37 assists, 71 ground balls and 133 draw controls in 21 games. She’s committed to USC.

Grace Weigand, Regis Jesuit (Colo.), Midfield, Jr. — Her 44 goals and 20 assists were good for 64 points, second on Regis Jesuit in 2019.
