What a week for McDonogh (Md.). The Eagles dropped out of the rankings, but responded with two huge wins to vault all the way up to No. 9 this coming week. McDonogh took down then-No. 3 Calvert Hall and No. 11 Boys' Latin in a short span to fuel the rise into the top 10. George Ward scored the game-winner in the 8-7 win over Boys’ Latin.

Watch out for Paul VI (Va.), which has won six straight games, including an upset of Gonzaga (D.C.). It moved from unranked to No. 16 this week. Also new to the rankings are Upper Dublin (Pa.), Loyola Blakefield (Md.), Summit (N.J.) and Lincoln-Sudbury (Mass.).

Since starting the season with back-to-back losses, the Friars have rebounded with four straight wins, including impressive victories over Manhasset (N.Y.) and Haverford School (Pa.). In what was a wild week in the MIAA A Conference, Calvert Hall holds on to the No. 1 spot despite a 6-4 loss to McDonogh (Md.). The Cardinals are in a four-way tie for the No. 1 seed and rebounded from the loss with a 15-10 win over St. Mary’s (Md.), which was ranked No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic last week. Previous: 1

2. McDonogh (Md.), 7-4

Just when the Eagles’ were dropped from the rankings, they soar back into the top 5 after posting wins over Calvert Hall and Boys’ Latin (Md.) last week. The wins put them in a tie for the No. 1 spot in the conference. George Ward scored the game-winner in an 8-7 victory against Boys’ Latin. Jack Sweeney accounted for eight points in the two wins. 3. Delbarton (N.J.), 5-0

The Green Wave have left no doubts they are the top team right now in New Jersey. They defeated previously unbeaten Seton Hall Prep (N.J.) 16-9 last week on the strength of six points each from Tommy MacCowatt and James Santoro. Previous: 5

4. Boys’ Latin (Md.), 8-2

The Lakers are among the four teams tied for the No. 1 spot in the MIAA A Conference after dropping a one-goal loss to McDonogh. They had opened last week with a 16-4 win over John Carroll (Md.). This week will be tough with games at Loyola-Blakefield (Md.) and a home meeting against Calvert Hall (Md.). Previous: 4

5. Haverford School (Pa.), 8-3

The Fords defeated Washington power Bellevue 16-4 to start the week, and by the end of it, they had three straight wins. TJ Malone scored 17 points in the three wins, including six-point games against Bellevue and Penn Charter (Pa.). Previous: 6

6. Paul VI (Va.), 10-3

The Panthers might be getting hot at the right time. After dropping back-to-back close games to Good Counsel (Md.) and St. John’s (D.C.), Paul VI has won six straight, including an 8-5 upset win over Gonzaga (D.C.) last week. Previous: NR

7. Gonzaga (D.C.), 8-3

The Purple Eagles were stunned by Paul VI last week but rebounded with a 16-6 win over Bishop O’Connell (Va.). They have an easier stretch in their next three games as their opponents are a combined 9-24, but the schedule picks up again with a meeting with Landon (Md.) on April 24. Previous: 3

8. Upper Dublin (Pa.), 7-0

A commanding win over Chatham (N.J.) helps the case for the Hilltoppers this week. The No. 3 team in New Jersey, according to NJ.com, will face its biggest test of the season on April 24 when Summit faces Delbarton (N.J.). Previous: NR

1. Lambert (Ga.), 14-0

The Longhorns returned from spring break with two lopsided wins against in-state opponents. They beat Forsyth Central 19-3 and then beat Cambridge 15-1. They have three regular-season games remaining. Previous: 1

2. Oxbridge Academy (Fla.), 15-2

The ThunderWolves beat Boca Raton (Fla.) 15-4 in their regular-season finale. Connor Davies, Bennett Bowers, Reece Riccardo, Jack Kilian, Blake Jerd and Shane Waina all had two goals. Davies had three assists. The ThunderWolves open the postseason on Tuesday with a district semifinal game against Wellington. Previous: 2

3. Middle Creek (N.C.), 14-0

The Mustangs picked up three more in-state wins to remain unbeaten. They started the week with an 18-4 win over Garner Magnet, followed with a 19-7 win over Jack Britt and finished with an 18-4 win over Fuquay-Varina. They have won 36 consecutive games. Previous: 3 

4. Episcopal Dallas (Texas), 10-2

The Eagles’ game at Dallas Jesuit (Texas) that began on Friday was halted by weather and will pick up again on Tuesday, tied 9-9 in the third quarter. They have no other games scheduled this week. Previous: 4

5. Highland Park (Texas), 9-3

The Scots beat Plano West 13-6 in their only game of the week. After a matchup with Rockwell on Tuesday, the Scots play previously-ranked Dallas Jesuit on Friday in a meeting of Texas powers. Previous: 5

6. Centennial (Ga.), 13-1

The Knights beat Lakeside-Dekalb (Ga.) 27-2 in their return from spring break and finished the week with a 16-13 win over Westminster (Ga.). Colin Hall had five goals and three assists against Lakeside and four goals, one assist against Westminster. Nicky Solomon racked up six goals and seven assists in the Lakeside win. Ryan Siracusa chipped in four goals, one assist against Westminster, and Ben Shealy added five goals. Previous: 6

7. The Woodlands (Texas), 14-1

The Highlanders picked up two in-state wins to rebound from their only loss of the year. They beat St. Mark’s 9-3 and Southlake 5-1. They have two regular-season games remaining. Previous: 7

The Scots finished off the regular season with two wins against Florida competition. They beat Belen Jesuit 17-8 and then beat Benjamin 15-6. Benjamin is a top team that knocked Bishop Moore out of the rankings earlier this month. The Scots play a district semifinal game on Tuesday. Previous: 8  

9. Jupiter (Fla.), 14-2

The Warriors won their regular-season finale 15-6 over Martin County (Fla.). They open district tournament play on Tuesday. The district championship game is Friday. Previous: 10  

10. Louisville Trinity (Ky.), 7-2

The Shamrocks returned from spring break with a 19-3 win over Dupont Manual (Ky.) to join the rankings. They have quality wins over Louisville St. Xavier (Ky.) and Memphis Bell Academy (Tenn.). 1. Culver Academy (Ind.), 13-0

After playing 10 of their first 11 against teams out of the region, the Eagles travelled to Michigan and took care of business against two traditionally strong teams in the Midwest. They defeated Brother Rice 15-2 on Saturday and beat Detroit Country Day 18-1 on Sunday. Previous: 1

2. Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.), 4-0

The Shamrocks rallied from a three-goal halftime deficit to defeat in-state rival Brother Rice (Mich.) 10-9 in overtime, marking their first win over Brother Rice in more than two decades. Joey Kamish scored the golden goal for Detroit Catholic Central in overtime, notching his fourth tally of the contest. Previous: 2

3. Loyola Academy (Ill.), 7-0

The Ramblers are off to their best start in more than a decade after beating a pair of previously unbeaten squads. Loyola first beat Saint Viator 11-7 on April 11 and then added a 12-9 win over Fenwick (Ill.) on Saturday. Previous: 4

4. Upper Arlington (Ohio), 8-0

After starting last week with dominating wins over Marysville (Ohio), 19-1, and Pickerington North (Ohio), 16-3, the Golden Bears hung on for a 6-5 win over Worthington Kilbourne (Ohio) on Saturday. Goalie Jake Carlin stepped up with eight saves against Kilbourne. Previous: 5

5. Cincinnati St. Xavier (Ohio), 6-1

The Bombers picked up another win versus a ranked opponent on Saturday, defeating previously unbeaten New Trier (Ill.) by an 11-7 margin. That victory came three days after the Bombers defeated Mason (Ohio) 9-5. Previous: 6

6. New Trier (Ill.), 8-1

Following their 20-0 win at Deerfield (Ill.) on April 10, the Trevians were handed their first loss of the season on Saturday, falling to Cincinnati St. Xavier (Ohio). New Trier had its following game against Olentangy Liberty (Ohio) canceled Sunday due to weather. Previous: 3

7. MICDS (Mo.), 8-2

The Rams defeated Fort Zumwalt 26-0 on April 10 and then defeated rival Missouri power DeSmet Jesuit 17-7 on Thursday. Graham Bundy Jr., a junior committed to Georgetown, scored eight times against Fort Zumwalt and had five tallies against DeSmet Jesuit. Previous: 7

8. Brother Rice (Mich.), 3-4

The Warriors had another tough week against challenging competition. They lost to in-state rival Detroit Catholic Central 10-9 in overtime, then came back with an impressive 15-8 win over Cathedral (Ind.) on Friday before falling to Culver 15-4 the next day. Brother Rice bounced back with a win over De La Salle (Mich.) on Monday. Previous: 8

9. Blue Valley (Kan.), 10-0

The Tigers are the last undefeated squad left in Kansas and are coming off a 16-4 win over Lee's Summit West (Kan.). Blue Valley's highlight of the season thus far was a 9-8 victory over a strong Shawnee Mission East (Kan.) squad on April 4. Previous: NR

10. Cleveland St. Ignatius (Ohio), 7-3

After a 4-3 start to the season, the Wildcats have won three in a row, including wins last week over Western Reserve (Ohio), 21-2, and St. Edward (Ohio), 17-3. St. Ignatius has a huge match against cross-state power Cincinnati St. Xavier (Ohio) on Friday. Previous: NR

1. Torrey Pines (Calif.), 9-1

The Falcons were idle last week after going 1-1 on their trip to Connecticut with a win over Ridgefield and loss to national No. 2 Darien. Coming off a nine-day layoff, they are back in action Tuesday at San Dieguito Academy. A match against St. Margaret’s (Calif.) looms Friday. Previous: 1

2. Regis Jesuit (Colo.), 8-1

The Raiders outscored their three opponents 47-14 last week, including a 15-4 win over previously-ranked Arapahoe (Colo.) and 18-4 victory over Rockhurst Jesuit (Kan.). Jake Taylor led Regis with five goals against Arapahoe, while Anders Erickson and Nick Ringhofer each added four-point performances with one goal and three assists. Taylor had five goals and three assists against Rockhurst. Previous: 2 

3. La Costa Canyon (Calif.), 11-1

In their only game last week, the Mavericks edged Poway (Calif.), 7-6. They play Carlsbad (Calif.) on Wednesday before a big test at Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.) on Friday. Previous: 3 

4. Palos Verdes (Calif.), 12-3

The Sea Kings are on a hot streak and jump into the rankings after a big week that featured wins over then-No. 4 St. Margaret’s (Calif.) and No. 8 Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.). Kyle McCann had 16 saves in a 13-4 trouncing of Foothill on April 10, then collected 14 saves in a 9-7 victory over St. Margaret’s on Saturday, a game in which freshman Michael Nagy led the offense with three goals and two assists. Palos Verdes has won six in a row since a 9-5 loss to La Costa Canyon (Calif.) on March 23. Previous: NR 

5. St. Margaret’s Episcopal (Calif.), 13-1

The Tartans suffered their first loss of the season Saturday against Palos Verdes, following a win over Corona del Mar earlier in the week. They trailed PV 8-2 in the third quarter and rallied to within two but couldn’t close the gap any further. St. Margaret’s will try to bounce back against Foothill and Torrey Pines this week. 6. Mountain Vista (Colo.), 6-2

The Golden Eagles added three wins last week, including handing Dawson School (Colo.) its first loss, 12-6, and beating six-win Chaparral (Colo.) on Friday. Cam Hancock had a game-high four goals and one assist in a 10-7 win over Chaparral, and Jonah Hirshorn had 11 saves. Previous: 5

7. Cherry Creek (Colo.), 8-2

The defending state champion Bruins bounced back from a loss to Mountain Vista with three wins last week. They outscored Overland (Colo.), Cherokee Trail (Colo.) and Mullen (Colo.) 51-6. Twelve players scored goals in a 21-0 rout of Overland, led by Morry Stein’s four goals and two assists and Charlie Colby’s four goals and one assist. Previous: 6

8. San Ramon Valley (Calif.), 14-2

The Wolves came back from a nine-day break to beat Granada (Calif.) 21-0 on Friday and then topped Sacramento Jesuit (Calif.) 11-7 on Saturday. SRV has given up more than seven goals just twice this season. Previous: 7 

9. Bellevue (Wash.), 8-2

The Wolverines rebounded from back-to-back losses to Garden City (N.Y.) and nationally-ranked Haverford (Pa.) with a 7-4 victory at Downingtown East (Pa.) on April 10. Steele Mylroie led with two goals and Cole Edelhertz made seven saves in goal. Previous: 9

10. Foothill-Santa Ana (Calif.), 14-2

The Knights split games last week, falling to Palos Verdes, 13-4, before rebounding with an 18-13 win over Santa Margarita Catholic (Calif.) on Saturday. Miles Smart and Michael Logan combined to win nine of 12 faceoffs in the second quarter against Santa Margarita, which helped Foothill rattle off nine goals and break open a 10-4 halftime lead.
