The Epoch/US Lacrosse Players of the Week are named each Tuesday to recognize the most outstanding individual performances in high school boys’  and girls’ lacrosse in each of the five regions — Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest and West — outlined in our high school coverage. (The South region season is complete.) Make it Epoch.

Northeast

The senior midfielder capped her remarkable prep career with a combined nine goals and four assists in the Class A final four. She had five goals and three assists in a 20-7 win over North Rockland (N.Y.) in the state semifinals, then tallied four goals and one assist as the Wolverines fell 10-9 to Pittsford (N.Y.) in the state championship. Ortega finished the season with 98 goals and 45 assists and ended her high school career as the all-time leading scorer in state history.

Puckette scored six times in the first half to equal the PIAA record for goals in a state final and kept on going. The Lehigh recruit helped the Raiders cruise to a long-awaited title after falling short in the final the past two years. She totaled 37 goals in Radnor’s eight postseason victories.
