Good morning. Here’s the latest from around the lacrosse world:
1. Kayla Treanor and Michelle Tumolo have continued their dovetailing lacrosse journeys this summer as splashy hires to lead the women’s lacrosse programs at Syracuse and Army, respectively.
They returned to player mode Tuesday, as the U.S. national team reported for training camp at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. Nelson Rice caught up with the duo at the epicenter of the coaching carousel.
2. Charlotte North is on the cover of USA Lacrosse Magazine for the second time this spring. We released the championship edition cover on social media Tuesday.
North, who is also in Sparks for U.S. training camp, hoists the NCAA championship trophy under the headline “For Boston,” reveling with her Boston College teammates in the Eagles’ first national title.
She was on the cover of our March edition as well.
2. The final Nike/USA Lacrosse high school rankings came out Tuesday. St. Anthony’s (N.Y.) finished ranked No. 1 in the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Boys’ National Top 25, while St. Paul’s (Md.) topped the Nike/USA Lacrosse High School Girls’ National Top 25.
3. Sarah Cahn has a call to action for the lacrosse community: Normalize coming out. The Haverford College goalie penned an article that we published in partnership with OutSports.
4. The Panther City Lacrosse Club selected its inaugural players in the NLL expansion draft Tuesday. Defender Matt Hossack (Saskatchewan) went first, then a trio of Americans and later one of the most decorated players in history.
5. Maryland is adding some firepower to its offense now that Jared Bernhardt has moved on. According to Seamans Media’s Chris Jastrzembski, the Terps are poised to add midfielder Jonathan Donville (Cornell) and attackman Keegan Khan (Villanova) as transfers.
Donville was an Inside Lacrosse second-team All-American in 2019. Khan was a USILA honorable All-American this year, when he ranked 11th nationally in points per game (4.83), finishing with 26 goals and 32 assists.
Villanova defenseman Owen Prybylski also will transfer to Maryland, according to Jastrzembski.
