Notre Dame will reportedly be without senior attackman Ryder Garnsey for the 2019 season — for real this time.

According to reports by College Crosse and Inside Lacrosse, the Irish’s top scorer the last two seasons and the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year, was deemed academically ineligible in December.

Two summers ago, Garnsey received his release to transfer from Notre Dame and considered leaving for ACC rival Virginia before ultimately deciding to stay in South Bend.

Garnsey led the Irish with 43 points (29 goals, 14 assists) last season. Notre Dame, ranked eighth in the Nike/US Lacrosse Division I Men’s Preseason Top 20, hosts Detroit Mercy in its 2019 opener Feb. 16.
